ReStart: an Interfaith Rehabilitation Programme of the Libertas Center, Ukraine
1-5 June, 2022
As Ukraine continues to destabilize, Christian (including Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant), Jewish and Muslim communities, families and individuals, afflicted by the ongoing armed clashes in Ukraine came together from 1-5 June for ReStart, an interfaith rehabilitation training, facilitated by Libertas Center for Interconfessional and Interreligious Dialogue – the first grantee of the Religions for Peace Multi-Religious Humanitarian Fund, Phase III (2022).
Many of the participants had spent the past two months in bunkers seeking shelter from bombing and violent conflict. The participants shared how the ReStart: Interfaith Rehabilitation Programme was an uplifting experience that enabled them to “taste life again” after a long period of isolation.
ReStart involved Christian, Islamic, Jewish, spiritual meditative, socio-psychological, art therapeutic, and gastro-therapeutic practices. Most of the speakers and trainers were women and they took the lead in facilitating inspiring sessions to convey messages of hope and perseverance. ReStart was covered in the Ukrainian news and Libertas is planning on hosting a new session soon.
