Serigne Mansour Sy has served as deputy speaker in the Senegalese Parliament since 2012. Serigne Sy is a religious leader of the Tijaniyya, a Sufi order in Senegal, and is also Co-President of Religions for Peace.
Serigne Sy previously served at the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah for 27 years, retiring in 2006. He then became active in Senegalese politics, wishing to help improve the democratic outlook of the country. A native speaker of Wolof, Sy also speaks French, Arabic and English.
