Rev. Megumi Wada studied Arabic and Shari’a Islami’a (Islamic law) at Cairo University for two years, after graduating from the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, majoring the Arabic language. In 1993, she began serving for Rissho Kosei-kai as a staff member, where she was in charge of the peace activities of Donate One Meal Movement and interreligious dialogue and cooperation. From 1998 to 2007, she worked as a representative of Rissho Kosei-kai of the United Kingdom and staff of the head office of the International Association for Religious Freedom
in Oxford, England. While she was in England, she obtained an MA, post graduate degree in interreligious relations at the Department of Theology of the University of Birmingham. After returning back to Tokyo in 2007, she served as
Director of the Coordinating Department of Religions for Peace Japan for 12 years.
