Previously, he was Secretary General of the Alliance of Religions and Conservation for 24 years, which was established with HRH Prince Philip in 1995 to help faiths develop environmental and conservation projects.

Martin is an international specialist on all major faiths and religious traditions and cultures. He sits on the Boards of Trustees for WWF’s Beliefs and Values Programme; Resilience Foundation; and 8 Billion. He is a Fellow of The Club of Rome. 

Martin is the author and editor of more than 20 books on religious and environmental topics. He has translated many ancient Chinese texts, is a regular broadcaster and a lay preacher in the Church of England. He has been working with the faiths on environmental issues for more than 30 years and on their investment programmes since 2001.
