The Role of Strategic Partnership between Faith Actors and ICAN in Universalizing the TPNW for Sustainable Peace, Justice, and Development

Addressing the pressing issue of nuclear threats necessitates a fundamental shift in the prevailing belief system that nuclear deterrence is under control. With their moral authority, faith leaders occupy a pivotal role in this endeavor. Therefore, on the margins of the second Meeting of Sates Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), Religions for Peace, the African Council of Religious Leaders-Religions for Peace and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) have organized this event, The Role of Strategic Partnership between Faith Actors and ICAN in Universalizing the TPNW for Sustainable Peace, Justice, and Development, on Thursday, 30 November 2023.

This side event aims to foster a holistic understanding of how faith communities and ICAN can collborate to advance the TPNW and through many topics, speakers will explore the correlation of interfaith mechanisms and disarmament advocacy. Through topical panel discussions and an interactive Q&A session, participants will gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with forging strategic partnerships in the universalization of the TPNW.
