H.E. Luigi Bressan

Archbishop of Trento, Archdiocese of Trento
Co-President, Religions for Peace

His Grace, Archbishop Luigi Bressan, was born in 1940 in Italy, and was interested in ministry from an early age. Ordained at the young age of 24, Archbishop Bressan served as a priest in Trento Italy for two decades before being appointed and ordained Archbishop of Severiana, Italy, in 1989. Archbishop Bressan was named and installed Archbishop of Trento, his original Parish home, in 1999, and he continues in this role presently.

In addition to his role as Archbishop, Bressan was also appointed delegate and nuncio to several regions outside of italy, including Pakistan, Thailand, Laos and Singapore. In his interactions with Christian and Inter-religious communities in these areas, Archbishop Bressan likely developed his interfaith consciousness, and his actions and advocacies for interreligious and intercultural cohesion reflect this assumption. In addition to his role as a Co-President of Religions for Peace, Archbishop Bressan has installed programs in his see of Trent to promote interfaith cooperation and dissuade Euro-centrism among youth primarily through media; including his International Festival of Religious Movies, more commonly known in Trent as “Religion Today.” Archbishop Bressan’s focus on engaging the youth of Italy in a global, pluralistic consciousness makes him a valuable member of Religions for Peace.
